When we say cinnamon buns, you probably immediately think of autumn and winter, enjoyment and time with your loved ones. The second association is probably to cook and bake and enjoy the little things that life offers.
Besides, you probably immediately think of the large amounts of unhealthy ingredients with which these winter treats are filled, especially the cinnamon buns. BesserMe has therefore tried to find a recipe for healthy cinnamon buns that will delight you with both taste and smell.
The ingredients that give us the desired taste and sweetness come from natural products that do not contain empty calories, but many healthy nutrients that keep us full for a long time.
Ingredients cinnamon buns
For the dough
- 235 ml hot water
- 2 teaspoon yeast
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or oil of your choice)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 360 g flour
- 1 pinch of salt
For the stuffing
- 12 dates without pit
- 80 g peanut butter
- 35 g oatmeal
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger (powder)
- 2 tablespoons water (or more)
- 2 tablespoons milk + coconut sugar for sprinkling
Preparation:
Preparation:In a large bowl, mix hot water, yeast, oil and honey. Stir and let stand for 15 minutes. Mix flour, salt and the previously prepared yeast mixture in another bowl with a fork.
Put the dough on a clean work surface and knead it for 5 minutes or until the dough becomes smooth. Cover the dough thus prepared in a well-oiled bowl with a damp cloth and let it stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Place all the filling ingredients in a blender – dates, peanut butter, oats, honey, cinnamon, ginger, water and milk. Blend the ingredients until an even texture is achieved – scrape down the sides of the blender if necessary, add more dates and / or more water if the mixture is too thick.
When the dough has “risen”, put it on a floured surface and roll out the dough into a rectangle about half a centimeter thick. Spread the date filling evenly on top, roll up the dough and cut into 6-8 slices (depending on how thick you want the rolls).
Coat the muffin tin with butter or coconut oil and place one roll in each mold. Using a pastry brush, brush the rolls with milk and sprinkle with coconut sugar. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cinnamon buns get a golden color.
