Winter fatigue: Many people feel listless and unproductive, especially at the beginning of winter. When you leave the house in the morning, it’s still dark. And in the evening, when you return home from work, the sun has already set. The cold days can really drain your energy. That’s why we’ve got six tips to help you stay motivated and productive this fall and winter, despite the lack of daylight.

With regard to the lack of energy in winter, one also speaks of winter fatigue. This is attributed to the increasing release of the so-called sleep hormone melatonin. This messenger substance is produced during twilight and darkness. Its function: melatonin makes us sleepy and thus enables us to sleep. On winter days, we usually feel so tired because melatonin is also released during the day. However, there are some tricks against this winter tiredness. You can use them without much effort to have more energy in everyday life.

Healthy diet and plenty of water

Winter fatigue, tiredness

In autumn and winter, many vitamins are missing. Due to the lack of daylight, many are deficient in vitamin D. Listen to your body and provide it with the necessary vitamins and nutrients. Eat a balanced diet and make sure that you include plenty of vegetables and fruits in your diet. Here you can read about the healthy foods that autumn brings.

For your vitamin intake we recommend oranges, apples, kiwis and tangerines. Pumpkins also contain many important nutrients that will do your body good in the fall.

Fatigue, sleep, tea

In addition to a balanced diet, many people forget to drink enough water. You are less thirsty now than in summer? Then try to trick yourself with a daily pot of tea or a fine bouillon.

Exercise helps against winter fatigue

Sports and exercise in general not only give you more energy, but also promote concentration. Even if you usually have to overcome a little more in the winter than in the summer: go train. here you can find tips on how to exercise when you’re tired.

You don’t want to leave your cozy home on cold days to go workout? Then try a home workout.

Plans the week in advance

A structured workday helps you to work productively. The more efficiently you complete your tasks, the more motivated you will be when you start the next working day. Therefore, plan everything you have to do at the beginning of the week. Try to distribute your work steps over the week so that you can combine lighter tasks and somewhat heavier activities each day.

So in the morning, when you are a little less motivated, you can simply start with the simplest tasks. This will increase your productivity and can save your day. Also, you should be aware that there are things that have a bad effect on your productivity.

Go out into the fresh air

fresh air, winter fatigue

In winter, we usually spend the whole day indoors. However, on harsh days, don’t forget to get some fresh air. For example, take a short walk during your lunch break. If it’s too cold for you, at least open the window to let fresh air into the room and move around your workplace a bit. You can do these 10 exercises at work.

Think about yourselves

Your mood has a great influence on your energy. Therefore, take time for yourself and do things that are good for you. For example, have a spa evening at home, bake or cook something delicious, or spend time with your loved ones. Such activities are especially crucial at the weekend. This way you start the new week fit and in a good mood.

Sleep, winter fatigue

Little things like this can also brighten up your working day. For example, pack a tasty, healthy snack or treat yourself to a fine coffee now and then. However, you should be careful with caffeine in particular. Too much of it in the afternoon or evening will prevent you from sleeping at night. That way you will mess up your rhythm. And that brings us to the next tip: Get enough sleep!

Sleep works wonders against winter fatigue

Good sleep is not only important to wake up full of energy the next day: sleep also helps to lose weight. In addition to good nutrition and enough water, sleep has a very big impact on our mind and body image. Here you will learn how to sleep eight hours at a time. And if you have days when falling asleep doesn’t work so well, check out the following article: These 5 yoga exercises will help you sleep better.
