We all know the motto over the holidays: Eat, eat, eat! After several days of Christmas and the big New Year’s Eve dinner, most of us feel limp, exhausted and often a few pounds heavier. The solution is to not go on a diet over the holidays. Once a year, you’re allowed to indulge yourself. Isn’t that right? There are a few simple tricks that will help you keep your energy up over the holidays.

Go for a walk

Fresh air fills your mind and body with new energy. Take your family with you and go for a leisurely stroll in the surroundings. A little time outdoors is good for both big and small, and will boost your digestion. Sometimes, you forget that after all the gift unwrapping, cooking and eating, it is good to move a little, despite the cold. And don’t worry, you don’t have to run a marathon. Even a short walk will do you good.

Do not forget fruits and vegetables

During the feast, there are all kinds of delicacies. However, in addition to desserts and five-course meals, don’t forget to provide your body with vitamins. Even an orange in the afternoon will do wonders. Or try to take a little more salad or vegetables at dinner.

Drink plenty of water

Although wine and sweet drinks are usually the center of the table at the big feast, you should not forget to drink your two liters of water. This will also keep you from eating more than you should, because often we feel hungry when we are actually thirsty. Here are seven helpful tricks to drink more water.

Enough sleep

Even though the party can go on long into the evening and you want to spend as much time as possible with family and friends: don’t forget to get enough sleep! In this article, you will find tips on how to get eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. Getting enough sleep helps your digestion and gives your body new energy. It also helps to sleep a little more the week before if you already know that the nights will be a little shorter during the holidays.

Plan in advance

Shopping for presents, wrapping them and preparing the festive meal! All these things can be quite stressful and take a lot of your energy if you start organizing too late. Therefore, plan what you have to do a few days in advance . This way you will also see which tasks you can already do. Let your family help out and give them responsibilities so that you don’t have to think of everything on your own during the family celebration.

All these things do not cost you much time but work wonders over the holidays. Try them this year and you will see that these simple tricks will give you much more energy.
