I’m sure you’ve all experienced it. You have visitors, but your living room is a mess. However, with a few tricks you can organize your living room so that you only have to adjust the cushions on the sofa before the guests arrive.

First step, sort everything out

The biggest mess makers are countless books and magazines that you don’t look at anymore. Sort everything out and keep only those things you really need or which mean something to you. At the same time, take the opportunity to dust and clean out all your shelves. Afterwards, put everything back away, sorted by category. If you have DVDs, CDs or electronic devices, it’s a good idea to put them in nice baskets on the bookshelf. If not, they are well kept in closed cabinets. There are two options for books. If your apartment is more minimalist, you can turn the books around, so that your bookshelf looks simpler. If you like it colorful, then sort them in rainbow colors.

How to keep your living room tidy

Next to the kitchen, the living room is the first room that guests see. Even during the week, it pays to have a good system in place in case someone comes to visit unannounced. With the following tips, your living room will stay organized even in hectic everyday life.

  • Basket for the remote control: Have you ever been through this moment? You lie down on the sofa in the evening and can’t find the remote control. Get a decorative basket or a beautiful bowl and place it on your coffee table. Now your remote controls always have their place. You’ll quickly get used to putting them there again after watching TV.
  • Larger basket for blankets: This tip is especially beneficial in the winter. Even if you just throw them in the basket, the blankets will look more like decoration, then a simple way to tidy them away.
  • Coasters: Glass tables in particular will quickly look like you haven’t cleaned them in weeks. Look for a set of beautiful coasters. These will not only protect your coffee table, but also serve as decoration.
  • Hide cables: In almost all furniture stores you can buy boxes and strips to hide the cables in the living room. A simple trick that will make your living room look all the more tidy.

With these simple tricks, your living room will stay tidy even during a stressful day. Have fun organizing!
