Tips for sports after pregnancy

During pregnancy, some women gain a lot of weight. They then want to get rid of the extra weight as soon as possible after the birth. However, it is recommended to continue training only six to eight weeks after delivery and after an inevitable consultation with a gynecologist.

Some women recover very quickly after giving birth and soon feel ready to start exercising again. However, before starting any exercise, a doctor should be consulted. He or she should examine you in detail and confirm that everything is in order and that you can start exercising again.

Waiting for the right time

Women who give birth naturally usually recover much faster and can start training earlier. This is especially in comparison to women who give birth by cesarean section. The cesarean section is an operation and the recovery time is therefore much longer.

You should start with simple exercises and gradually increase the pace. Walks in the fresh air will do both the mother and the child good. Thus, it is called: Get out and move as much as possible. This will make the excess weight disappear faster and you will feel fit and healthy again sooner.

Avoid certain exercises

Sit-ups should be avoided at the beginning until the gap that developed between the abdominal muscle strands during pregnancy has receded. A doctor will be able to determine through a careful examination what condition the muscles are in and whether the abdominal muscles have regained their old shape.

A light workout is certainly good as well as recommended and will make it easier for any woman to get fit again. It is also important to have a healthy diet and to drink enough fluids – especially water. Those who breastfeed their child can also do light workouts. It is best to breastfeed the baby before exercising so that the breasts are not heavy and tense, which would make exercising more difficult. During exercise, it is recommended to wear a sports bra that is comfortable and does not pinch.

It is always important to listen to your body. If bleeding occurs after training, you should immediately contact a gynecologist. You should also avoid a fast pace and exercises that demand a greater effort, so as not to endanger your health.
