Ginger and its health benefits

There are 115 different components in the ginger root. The therapeutic benefits come from the oily resin of the root, which acts as a very powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Likewise, ginger aids digestion as well as the stomach. It also stimulates the circulation and appetite.

Here are some of the medically proven health benefits of ginger.

Stroke and heart disease

Both a stroke and heart disease are usually fatal. This can be prevented by the regular consumption of ginger. The effect of ginger is enhanced when combined with other superfoods. Garlic, red onions and ginger prevent blood clotting and when eaten together, they work against heart attacks and strokes!

Poor digestion and nausea

Whether treating abdominal pain or severe morning sickness, ginger has been used for thousands of years as an effective remedy for these problems. Recently, Taiwanese researchers found that three capsules (1.2 grams total) of ginger can help the stomach drain its contents into the small intestine of people with dyspepsia – a condition in which 40 percent of patients suffer from abnormal and delayed gastric emptying.

Ginger relaxes the smooth muscle in the stomach and stimulates the flow of food throughout the body. This is one reason why ginger helps people who feel bloated, have constipation or other gastrointestinal disorders.

Tip: Eat a piece of ginger, drink fresh juice or inhale the essential oil. These are very effective ways to fight stomach diseases.

Better immunity and respiratory function

It is believed that ginger is very effective in warming up the body so that the accumulation of toxins in the body can be stopped. It is also known that ginger cleanses the lymphatic system, the sewage system of our body. The combination of ginger and eucalyptus oil is an effective way to boost immunity and improve breathing.

Bacterial infections

Ginger can be used as a natural antibiotic. Conventional medicines cannot compare with the antibacterial effect of ginger extract. Therefore, consult with your doctor whether a medicinal antibiotic is really necessary, or whether you can also fight the bacteria with ginger extract.

Tip: When you go to the hospital for surgery or to visit a friend, be sure to bring some ginger oil and put a few drops in your drinking water. This will reduce the likelihood of dangerous infections and on the other hand can speed up the healing process!

Fungal infections

Although fungal infections are a problem resistant to conventional medicine, they do not stand a chance against ginger.

Tip: To immediately combat fungal infections, mix a few drops of ginger essential oil with tea tree oil and a teaspoon of coconut oil and apply to the infected area up to three times a day.

Cancer and ulcers

Since the 1980s, researchers have known that ginger can cure a stomach ulcer. In addition, scientists have found that 3 meals of ginger per week slows the growth of cancer cells, especially ovarian cancer.

Tip: Drink ginger tea several times a day, take 1 milligram of ginger root powder or two drops of essential oil twice a day.

Diabetes

It is known that ginger improves insulin sensitivity in diabetics. It not only helps prevent diabetes, but also protects against further complications.

Consume ginger

  • Raw Ginger – You can add sliced ginger (thumb size) to a smoothie or make vegetable side dishes with it every morning.
  • Essential oil – The most effective form of ginger is essential oil. You can take it internally to treat a disease. You can also rub it on painful areas. Usually 2-3 drops of essential oil is the recommended therapeutic dose.
  • Tea – This liquid form of ginger is often used to relieve nausea, calm the stomach and relax the body. One cup two to three times a day has an anti-inflammatory effect. Add some honey and lemon to the tea for an even better effect.
  • Ginger Powder – Using ginger powder for cooking is a great way to use this super spice. It can be added to curry sauce, homemade pumpkin pie or smoothies.
